Just a reminder of what we should be focused on during this election season.
The pole stands alone, silent and unassuming. Quietly it does not speak yet it tells us volumes. Private or public it represents and guarantees. Warm to the touch it reassures in the heat of summer. Icy cold it reminds us of the rawness in this world. Large and towering it embodies all of us. Small and alluring it epitomizes our individual spirit. It asks nothing in return yet demands our attention and service. It is always there for us, letting us be free to accomplish whatever we wish.
The pole may stand alone when there is little support. When things are at their worst, it will most likely have very few friends. Tomorrow it may have many others join with it to stand together. When some are in need, they will demand it. As a faithful servant it will always respond. It can be found around the world wherever we go, for it will always stand behind us.
Some may stand behind the pole but not believe in it. Others will turn it into something it is not. A few may use it to promise something it does not warrant. Several covet the pole for the power it can grant. Others desire it for the benefit of all. Many may tell you it owes you something. Some will view it as a chance. It can always be better but that is not an easy road, so very few will give it their full attention. People lose faith in the pole but the pole never gives up on them.
The pole has changed the world. It represents wealth and development. It brings with it peace and prosperity. Great things have been accomplished under the pole in a very short time. Most if given the chance will seek refuge with the pole. Evil will rally against it and try to destroy it. Many will defile and desecrate the pole but it will accept and comfort them always. The pole itself has no prejudices and makes no judgments. It has no soul yet feels our sorrow and applauds our accomplishments.
Many have carried the pole before us. Many will carry it after we are gone. It has seen many people and places. You can find it on our homes and businesses. It can be found in just about every nation in the world. The pole has even been placed on the moon. Only our bravest will carry the pole to other parts of the world. Under the name of peace, freedom and hope the pole will always show when needed. Many have given their life for the opportunity to bring the pole to oppressed and devastated peoples around the world. Many more are doing so now and will in the future.
The pole gets very little attention everyday as we go about our lives. People ignore the pole. They forget the pole. They do not feel they can affect the pole. They think the pole has let them down. The pole is usually taken for granted. Just remember the pole is always there for you and you need to be there for it.
The pole, you see, plays a most important role in our lives……
It carries the flag of the United States of America.
